Ali Akbar Moradi and Shahram Nazeri performed with Matthaios Tsahouridis at 'The Scholeion' in Athens on 25-7-08, together with tombak player Pejman Hadadi and the two sons of Ali Akbar Moradi, Arash and Kourosh on sehtar and daf respectively. It was undoubtedly one of the most important events of the Athens & Epidaurus Festival 2008, as Iranian musicians collaborated for the first time with Pontic lyra player Matthaios Tsahouridis from Veria. This unique concert brought even closer the two music cultures of Greece and Persia. Through musical improvisation and interpretation, both cultures experienced many musical similarities.
Pontic music which includes music, poetry and dance, is a time honored cultural heritage that expresses the customs, traditions, ethos and in some way the history of the Pontic people. The Pontic lyra is the instrument that expresses my deeply felt devotion and respect for the music that I love and serve. Please follow youtube for more pontic videos.
